In the UK. I think it's 16, but does that mean it is legal for a 50 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old schoolgirl?

English law answer: Whilst the age of consent is 16 yrs which does mean people over 16yrs with very wide age differences may have a mutually consenting sexual relationship there is any important exception. Under the Sexual Offences ( Amendment ) Act 2000 it is an offence for someone in a position of trust and authority to have a sexual relationship with someone under 18yrs ( not 16 yrs ) The obvious example is of school teachers and pupils, it would be a criminal offence for such a relationship to take place until the youngest person is 18yrs. This is because of the obvious and extra pressure and vulnerability of the under 18yr old. Obviously there is a lot of legal 'small print' and detail setting out what can amount to a position of trust, who can be in a position of trust, when that position of trust was established, and it covers activity which falls short of full sexual intercourse.

Wait - 50 years old, would that not make him your dad's age or older! Yes 16 is the legal age of consent in the UK but ethically and morally wrong. What problems has the old man got that he can't be with someone closer to his own age?

It depends on where you live. Where I live anyone over the age of 16 may consent to sexual contact. However, anyone two years older than a 16 year old may get charged with contributing the the deliquency, which changes if the girl is 18, when no such charge can be raise. You need to seek out the legal code in your area- at the law library in your county seat, and look this up.

The legal age in the UK is 16. I suppose it is legal for a 50 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old if it is consensual. But it would be frowned upon, as it is weird and creepy!

50 year old men used to marry 16 year old girls as common practice. In america if you are 16 you can have sex with an 18 year old maybe a 19 year old.

Yeah it is legal most of the time it is money honey. You want see old broke geyser kissing on a 16 year or a little older, it's always those wealthy men. That's always my motto anyway the richer the sweeter the kiss. The richer the wine the sweeter the taste. That is strictly my taste, I'm not walking about all women but I'm sure talking about me.

Yes in the UK the age of sexual majority and consent is 16. So if the girl wants to consent to a 50yo man, neither one has committed an offence. It may raise a few eyebrows, but as long as they are happy, they are harming no one.

Yes it does, if they both freely consent then its not against the law, but in my opinion thats disgusting. That man needs to find a woman his own age, peodophile.
