That could be the case. They say that if you are in good physical shape it helps you when you are in labor. However, I wasn't very physically active and was about10-15 pounds overweight when I got pregnant with my first child. I was in labor only about 7-8 hours only pushed 3 times and had no epidural. With my second I was only in labor for 1 hour and 45 minutes (my water broke at Wal-Mart) and I only pushed a couple of times and my son was delivered by the nurse because the doctor wasn't there. I obviously didn't have an epidural that time either. Some women just have easy labors and deliveries and some don't.

I dont think that has anything to do with it. Her being fit helped her push her baby out better but I've seen really fat women have super quick labors, like 3-4 hours long total. I was over weight when I had my second and I was only in labor for 8 hours, and I pushed for 20 minutes and had no pain meds.

There is quite a connection between your activity level and the ease of labor. Labor is a work out, and the more fit you are the easiest the work is.
But then a lot of it is also genetics and your anatomy and hormones.
My mom labored 3 hours for us, my gramma couldnt get to the hospital in time for all four... my aunt had four the same way. Fast labors run in our family.
I was super fit and walked a mile atleast every day while pregnant... but I was in labor for 43 1/2 hours, 6 of it was pushing.

I've known really healthy athletic women who have had CRAZY long labors and some women have easier labors. The fact that she exercised so much probably helped her be strong and healthy, but some women just labor quicker than others.

I think it helps with the labor pains and your stamina in labor, but I don't believe it makes it quicker. It does help with the recovery and getting back in shape after baby, that's for sure!
