People are comparing boxing and dogfighting. The difference is that a human can decide for himself whether or not he want to get into a ring and pummel someone else at the risk of getting pummeled. A dog cannot make that decision. Humans make it for them. That is a basic difference and it's just wrong.
I used to hunt and I think it's just as ignorant to compare hunting to dogfighting. In hunting, at least as I have practiced it, animals exist in their own environment and I am required to seek them out and to kill them for food. It requires an effort on my part and is done in a fashion that more often than not results not in my killing anything but in an animal getting away. This is key! It has the opportunity to escape. I'm not shooting fish in a barrel! Part of it is pure chance: whether or not I'll even come across anything. Another part is skill: whether or not I can actually kill a live, free roaming animal.
Sticking two dogs who have no choice in the matter into a ring to kill each other is NOT a sport! It's entertainment for humans as the cost of animal's lives. It's ridiculous and unconscionable.

Wow we are all Racist that is a good one!!! I knew the race card would be played it always is. That is the easy way out!!! I could careless if this was a Black or White guy what he did is terrible!! Hunting is a sport that is not inhumane ( though I'm not a hunter myself) To take a dog and starve it and beat it is stupid!!! He also was Gambling and as you seen with the WHITE ref in the NBA is illegal. Yes I said WHITE ref. Was that Racist ? I never said anything like that but you play the weak race card. It is for weak people with no Confidence in there own skin!!! Vick is a larger then life person and that is why he is all over the place.

This issue makes my blood boil. How in the hell can you compare 2 animals fighting to 2 humans fighting? Guess what? The humans made up their mind to have a career in it! Dogs fighting are nothing more than taking the animal's survival instincts and turning them against each other to entertain a bunch of sleaze bag, ignorant, redneck, empty minded, poor excuses for people. This is not a sport. It's called torture and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Haven't you heard of animal rights?

The difference between dog-fighting and UFC or boxing, people is obvious.....the power of choice! Humans make personal choices to participate in these "sports" but these dogs have no CHOICE, it is fight or die. How anyone can call that entertainment is beyond me.
But I don't understand the comments that are being made that this is a 'sport' when their is no choice to participate on the dog's part.

Like I said before....Dogfighting is a sport and aint nothing wrong about it. People for innocent bulls into cages and ride them as if they were willing. fighting is something that goes on daily in this country. Right now the UFC is everywhere and thats based on fighting....its humans of course but its no different with dogs...! SOme may die but its there time to go...there are to many other situations in the world going on that are worse than dogfighting. I mean IF Vick goes to Jail I think Lindsay ****** Lohan should go to jail. But i bet she gets off scotch free. The country is always lookin for a new media story to keep a news station going or some **** like that and there blowing the Dogfighting issue with Vick outta proportion. Let that man live dogg!!!!! If there was a way to tax dogfighting it would be legal! Dont hate...participate. I dont have any affiliation with dogfighting...but if i knew one was going down ide go watch...and place my bet. Now run tell dat...Biaaaachh!!!

ok, the killing part bothers me.... a bit. but dog fighting is like boxing. we are allowed to watch 2 humans kick the sh!t out of each other but it it is inhumane to watch 2 dogs fight? Hmmm... WTF? I have been to dog fights and chicken fights in VA. Hell of a time, and u would be amazed at some of the people who attend.
ADDED: so it's not a sport making 2 dogs fight. Do u think dogs choose to paraded around an arena in shows? No, but it's done and the rich appalud their beautifully manicured nails. Do u think they want their nails cut? What about dog races, sport? Yes, and many people bet on them. They didn't train themselves. Same concept.
