Most black peoples realtives are not from Africa unless you go back a couple of hundred years.

Just because they can do a trace back to Africa , does not mean anything. They are Americans and that is it. Unless recent parents or grandparents hell even great then you can say you are from Africa other then that you are not

Some people do, some people don't.
Some people don't like the title black, they prefer african american, some say african americans are people that were born in africa and moved to america, like mexican americans and such...
I sometimes use both, doesn't really matter to me

I'm not even going there. But, some African Americans can and do trace their ancestors back to the continent of Africa.

Because the ancestor of most black people in the US came from Africa. That's why the black people call themselves African Americans. Meanwhile the black people who emigrate to the US from Carribean Islands such as Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic, usually call themselves Afro-Carribean Americans (which have different culture with African Americans).

and I suppose a great many people could call themselves EURO americans because of our ancestry, but we don't bother...why? because we have no need to call attention to the color of our skin or our heritage, we create our lives and don't whine about the progress of others. In other words, we refuse to be victims. We refuse to trade on the sufferings endured in the past, and there were many for people of all races, but only one or two seem to cry continually about the past suffered by their race, THEY remain VICTIMS, to their own detriment and continued victimization.

i don't understand what you're trying to say; you contradicted yourself. Black people trace their origin to Africa.... if your origin is in Africa, and you live in america, you are African american.
