Wax Removal from Carpet
The last thing any of us need is wax dripped on the carpet. Once it hardens, it seems impossible to remove. All is not lost though. For cleaning carpet stains made by wax, first chip off as much of the surface wax as possible, using a dull knife or paint scraper. Once that is done, place a cloth or several layers of paper towels over the wax and apply a warm iron. Iron the towel for a few minutes and then lift. The wax should now be on the cloth instead of the carpet. Remove carpet stains left behind by blotting with a vinegar, or if it doesn't come up easily, nail polish remover.Good Luck! =)

Scrape as much wax as you can out of the carpet with something like a spoon. I've heard of people using ice to freeze the wax to make it more brittle. Not sure how well that works though.
After that you need to heat the remaining wax to get it out -- steam cleaning will probably work best. You can try covering the spot with newspaper and then heating with an iron (on low) but most wax has die in it so your carpet will probably have a stain. I don't know of any solvents that will dissolve the wax without ruining your carpet so I'd recommend the "scrape and steam clean" method.
Not a fun project. Good luck.

What has worked for me is:
1) Chip as much as you can off.
2) To get it out of the fibers I put a single paper towel over the candle droppings and use a hair dryer (takes a little more to melt the candle wax than would an iron, but is more convenient for me). Remove that paper towel and use more until you have removed the wax.

Try freezing with ice cubes and combing out as much as you can. Then using old rags, heat with an iron. Move to a clean spot on the rag frequently so that you are not remelting the wax you just removed. My husband spilled a candle two weeks ago on our NEW carpet. Fortunately, I no longer use parrifin was candles. I use a soy based candle that cleans up with hot, soapy water. If you are interested visit www.mycandlefarm.com.

Using hot water to melt the wax will be sufficient. Just use a towel/paper towels and take your time to make sure you remove all the wax.

Take paper towels and place on wax. Use iron and the wax will transfer to the paper towels. Or, try an ice cube.

FREEZE it. It becomes brittle and will flake off.
Place a plastic bag of ice on it for a time.
DO NOT RUB. DO NOT APPLY HEAT.
Any frozen bits can be removed with a comb.
