Normal for the free world.

What losing really means is:

>>

We would no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but rather will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against us, over the past 18 years. The plan was, clearly, for terrorists to attack us until we were neutered and submissive to them. We would, of course, have no future support from other nations, for fear of reprisals and for the reason that they would see; we are impotent and cannot help them.

>>

They will pick off the other non-Muslim nations, one at a time. It will be increasingly easier for them. They already hold Spain hostage. It doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong for Spain to withdraw its troops from Iraq . Spain did it because the Muslim terrorists bombed their train and told them to withdraw the troops. Anything else they want Spain to do will be done. Spain is

If we lose the war, our production, income, exports and way of life will all vanish as we know it. After losing, who would trade or deal with us if they were threatened by the Muslims. If we can't stop the Muslim terrorists, how could anyone else?

>>

The radical Muslims fully know what is riding on this war, and therefore are completely committed to winning, at any cost. We better know it too and be likewise committed to winning at any cost.

So if we "win" in Iraq and set up an area for America wouldn't we still be surrounded by the enemies of the US ?

You overlook the fact that other nations are beginning to weed out Muslim extremist too. The individual leaders of each nation do not want to be shorn of power. For all of Saddams multiple miseries, he would not allow Alqaida to get a foothold in his country. The Saudis have also learned this lesson. Europe is waking up to the fact that its policy of allowing Muslim immigration must be reexamined. Its not as overt as waging war, but it will help to pen in the expansion of fundamentalists. Our troops do not keep Muslim fundamentalists from wanting or actually committing acts of terrorism, they will do what they want, you can't stop a man from strapping a bomb vest on a ten year old and telling the child to pull the string for Allah at an Israeli bus stop.
That man already has no ear for us.
All we can do is make plans to leave Iraq, we can't stay there forever, waiting for them to stop fighting each other. Its not cost effective, and there is no will for it. We need to protect our own borders effectively, and stop draining our treasury in Iraq.

Life will be normal in the US. Just like it is now. We have homeland security and soldiers who will be HERE to protect us on our land than getting worn out fighting someone else's civil war. Suppose you look into your crystal ball and tell us what consequenses you see. Chaos may reign for awhile in the Middle East , who cares, but things should be normal here. Scare tactics of the Administration have people of simple minds scared that the boogy men will come and eat us alive if we dare even think of exiting Iraq. Fortunately most Americans are not scared of the boogy man, nor the moster in the closet or under the bed either.

And the longer we stay...the worse the consequences will become when we leave. We need to get out of there or Iraq will NEVER learn how to organize their own government. We just need to protect our own country and keep Americans safe that should be our focus. Pumping up border security so terrorists can not get into our country in the first place.

Why didn't the cons consider the consequences before invading Iraq? All they could think of was their own greed!Didn't you see the video of Cheney from '94 where he admitted what would have happened if desert strom had taken out Saddam then? They knew what would happen...........yet all they gave a damn about was their own pockets!I wonder how much Cheneys stock in Haliburton has risen in the last 6 years!

What's normal? I think the major objection is the way in which our commander and chief has propigated the response to the attacks of 9/11. No one expected the world to go back to "normal" after 9/11. To state that liberals believe ignoring the problem will make it go away is patently untrue or ignorant.

They think that life /here/ will return to normal, I'm sure. 'Normal' in Iraq would be languishing under an opressive dictator and UN sanctions. Whether the result of a 'coalition' defeat in Iraq would be better or worse than that, it probably wouldn't be /exactly/ that, at least not for a while.

A good course to follow, after withdrawing from Iraq, would be to declare war on the Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia.

They are the terrorists.

You are so ignorant of the Middle East it's kind of laughable. You sound like a Cold War hack that was indoctrinated in school by Joe McCarthy.

Iraq is not a war against "terror". It's a war against the Iraqi people. There WERE NO TERRORISTS in Iraq before we got there. They were scared s-tless of Saddam Hussein.

No, we're intelligent enough to know that religious factions have been at each others' throats for centuries, and nothing...NOTHING is going to change whether we stay there or whether we leave.

You cannot just "transplant" democracy like some potted shrub and expect that it's going to flourish there.
