Well, you'll NEED.
1 Computer
2 Programs for computer (Word, Excell, Powrpoint)
3 MP3 player or CD player
4 Clothes (don't bring too many, try to keep it to "a garbage bag" worth
5 Cellphone and charger
6 Spiral binder and some pencils and a few pens.
7 Toiletries (don't forget flip flops for communal bathing!)
8 Condoms (Always have some of your own! This is no joke, almost 50% of college students have an STD, dont let it be you too.)
8 Hand sanitizer (use it, you touch lots of stuff other people touch)
9 Pictures of friends and family
10 An unquenchable thirst for knowledge!

Thats about it

Well, I'm assuming you'll be in a dorm, so you'll need some basic furnishings for it. Keep in mind that most college dorms are rather small spaces shared by two people, so you don't want to bring too much. A lot of people bring a beanbag chair, a nice, cute lamp so you can study with lots of light, and special sheets made to fit dorm beds, which are always super long and skinny, for some reason. Some people also bring things like microwaves and mini-fridges, but you might want to check with your college to see what the rules are- some schools don't allow electrical appliances in the dorms because of fire hazards.

Also, you will need school supplies. In addition to the supplies on the list each teacher will provide, you need some things for your homework, like extra notebook paper, lots of pens, Post-its. I know lots of college kids these days do everything on their laptop, but you still might need paper just to make some quick notes or something.

Look around your room at home. Write down a list of the things you cannot do with out but that you cannot take with you because you'll still need a room at home. Linens, toiletries, lamps, extension cords. Odds are your school has a list on its website, (maybe in the dorm brochure) but here is a great extra list as well.

-A day planner. Time management is the most essential lesson you're learn at college, and a dayplanner is the best tool to help you.

-School supplies. The usual set of notebooks, pens, highlighters, backpack, etc.

-Dorm supplies. If you're moving into the dorms or apartment, you'll need basic living supplies: sheets, towels, shower caddy, etc. Visit Bed, Bath & Beyond for a great list of "dorm essentials."

-Big jar full of quarters for laundry.
