My friend has dollars left over from a Jimmy Carter visit she was working on. Currency exchanges and banks will not take it.

Thanks!

Have you considered selling them as collectibles rather than currency? As an example, the current Ethiopia 50 and 100 Birr notes in nice grade would probably sell for about 80% of the rate quote on www.xe.com as collectibles. Ditto 2006 or 2007 dated 200, 500, and 1000 Nigeria naira notes.
Please let me know what you have (dates as well as denominations). If I can't use them, I may be able to steer you to a coin shop that will buy them.

If you are in Nigeria and want Naira for Dollar, it should not be difficult. It was once easy on the streets of Maidiguri.
