I HAD to move out of my mother's house. She was emotionally abusive and provoked me into fights with her on a number of occassions when I wanted to keep things peaceful. She was also very controlling. She eavesdropped on my phone converstaions and didnt like me to go anywhere but I did anyway becuase I needed social interaction with friends. I left without a job and without money but am still in school. I need help paying for the rest of my college career becuase I plan to become a psychologist. I was told to apply for financial aid I need all of my mother's information and tax returns. I dont even live with her anymore and I make zero dollars! Why does the government need that info? if I got it, it would exacerbate things back at the house. What do I do? I cannot go back to that house and ask her for the ifo. She wont give it to me. Are there any sites that can help? I also cant bunk at my friends house forever. Im just a girl of twenty also.

Speak to someone at the financial aid office about your situation - they could likely consider you a non-dependent, since you clearly get no financial support from her. In that case, you would not need your mother's information to apply for aid.

Because they want to ensure that people who apply for financial aid, truly needs it. Otherwise, rich kids would abuse the system. If you are a student under 21, your parents are financially responsible for you.
