From my own sad and very rage enducing "pet shop/s/ing" expirieances, I will never again "purchase" another animal from any form of breeder IF they sell to so called "pet stores". The reason being that I went to a pet shop and was looking for a Dushhund puppy. Full sized, short hair, standard brown coloration(I don't like the brindle colored ones), cute, etc. Well, the owner of the shop said they would have to call the breeder they knew and check to see if they had any that were ready to be sold. A day and a half go by and the owner calls. I go and get the puppy, a little male. He was not very active and not very fat as he should have been. Plus, he only cost one hundred and fifty dollars with all his papers and shots too. Should have seen a problem there, but I didn't. Anyway, a trip to the vet's office and I got the bad news: The puppy was from a BAD farmer who's only interest was money, not true animal loving if you know what I mean. After a seven month court battle, a few thousand dollars for legal and vet fees, Werner The Weinerschnitzle had to be put down. And all the pet shop owner got was a thousand dollar fine, never found the breeder and lost a little bit of myself.

There are lots of people who buy pets online from adaption centers or people. If it's from a shelter, then they should be good to go if you're not able to see them first. If it's from a private owner, you would want to check out the puppies parents and conditions they're in. Remember to get their paper work with all their shots!

if it's truly an adoption from a shelter, then yes. if it is a pet "store" selling the pups-then definitely not.

www.petfinder.com is a wonderful adoption website that will have listings for animals in shelters in your area. those are true adoptions, and always a good thing to rescue an unwanted animal.

Sounds fishy to me...what's it called? It's most likely a puppy mill where they sell puppies. Puppy mills are BAD news!

Go to www.petfinder.com. This is a nationwide listing of dogs available for adaption from NO-KILL shelters. I got both of my dogs through this site.

You should go to your local shelter first. there are so many good dogs that need to find there forever homes. and at least this way you know where you got it and he/she will be UTD on all of it's shots.

Best of luck!!!
