YES!!!! I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you buy land nobody is going to throw in a house just to be nice.

You can buy the land and hire a contractor, or you can find a contractor that's building a house on speculation, and buy the package from him when it's done. In this housing market, you probably won't find many of those right now, though.

Either way, choosing a contractor is a tough job. Interview at least 3, and check them out closely. Some will do a great job, but some will cut corners wherever they can to save a buck.
