I've been on my deathbed planty of times, and it's just become familiar to me I guess, but even the first time it was never something I could'nt deal with or accept.

I was just wondering♥

I'm not sure I believe in Heaven and God, and all of that.

Lakisha 2, you're getting best answer. That made me laugh hysterically.

I was in a very bad car wreck and I'm not afraid of dying. But as a father, I fear being dead: removed from my family's lives. Different people attach different value to death, or life for that matter. I think the more you have, the more don't want to die...not simply wealth, but love as well. Also, there are those that aren't done with their goals and really don't want to abandon them. Then there is the death that comes swiftly and unexpected, how can you fear that?

But for those who are afraid to die a painful death, remember that you are not the only being with a central nervous system that has felt that much pain. Besides, it's only right now. Soon it will be all over.

Have a wonderful day!! :)

Well, some people cant stand the fact that when they die there may be nothing. You existance is for the most part extinct and maybe they would feel better if they knew there was something at the end. I know I would althought I dont really fear death I just dont want to die.

I imagine life here on earth would have to be so unbearable that only dying and the hope of ending up in a better place would accomplish that.
I know where i will be going and cant wait to see it but I am still afraid of the means as to how i will get there.

I think its just the luck of the draw in a way. You can't really control what you fear. Some people are afraid of the silliest things, and they can't explain why. Death isn't silly, but a fear of it is in a way, because everybody dies, and you can't control everything that could happen to you. Fear of death is actually quite illogical, now the fear of things that cause death... thats a little more logical.

http://www.allaboutgod.com/common/good-news.htm go to this website...it might be the best thing you ever do!! the one thing that will make you unafraid of death will be if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. "for God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) 'These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13).' trust God as your only way into heaven and ask for forgiveness for your sins.

I have heard of people being afraid of death because they have claustrophobia and are afraid of being closed up in a casket.
Some people are afraid because they are afraid they will go to Hell and they don't think they have lived a good enough life.
Some people are afraid because it will be dark in the casket.

I know some of these sound silly, but I am sure they are real to the people who fear them.

well i haven't been on my deathbed so i cant really say i know where your coming from.

but for someone like me who doesn't care about dying, i think i just realized it when my grandmother died in 2001. she was really close to me and after she was gone i pretty much told my self "the person i cared about the most is gone, so really what do i have to fear now"

after that i became quiet and cold so something like myself dying wasnt really something i was concerned with.

im sure others have gone through something like this before.

and for your case just like you said you accepted it, even on your first try.

it seems like you have to go through alot of distress, to be mentally strong like you, the answerers here, and myself are.

the only problem with this is there is a thin line between mentally strong and breaking down mentally...

I agree with 'june'. I know that when I die, I will go to Heaven and be with Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior because I've been saved by his mercy and grace. Faith that we KNOW that will be our place after death is why most are not afraid of death.

well it's all in the mind. if u have experienced death situations in the past... and have survived, then it makes u think "wow, i survived im not afraid of of anything that comes my way now, cuz i can take it" nothing makes u unafraid of death but ur own mind and the way u think.
