Hi everyone,
Apparently hospitals used to put an 'F' or 'M' or a symbol on the top line of a scan photo to indicate if they think baby is male or female, for their records.
I have an F on mine and just wondered if they still do this and if that means they think its a girl?!

No, the sonographer is checking that the fetus has no abnormalities. They are not concerned as to whether it is a boy or girl - they are looking to check that is will be born healthy and that growth is on target. Femur length is one measurement taken frequently to measure growth, as is HC (head circumference) and AC (abdominal circumference).

they had an F on one of mine and when i asked what it stood for they said Femur (spelling?) they were labeling the bones. I dont know though some offices have different initials for stuff. Just like they used a E to indicate that it was a leg on one of the photos.....how they came up with "E" to identify the leg i have no clue!

I've never heard of it. Some hospitals and doctors don't tell you the gender. Did they tell you what you are having? Did you ask them?
