Football, cricket, Rugby. We find a team that's reasonable and then keep picking the same people until they are long past their sell by date. Get rid of the old men and put more youngsters in the team. Then we can play for more than 10 minutes without needing to bring on the zimmer frames.

Definitely! England are failing to win games which they should really kill off 4-0! For me, Alan Smith and Joe Cole need to call time on their England careers. Lets face it, Alan Smith is not a striker. He is more of a winger, seeing as he has no striking instinct and can't keep on the ball! When he was at Man Utd, they didn't utilise him properly! The only time Man Utd used him properly or at all was in immediate effect of Roy Keane's departure! From that point onward, he was a regular. And it did work until Ronaldo changed from a striker to a left winger!
Joe Cole has dropped down the pecking order, just like Freddie Ljungberg did at Arsenal. He plays so well for Chelsea and impresses with some great performances. But then, one injury paves the way for the likes of Wright-Phillips, Arjen Robben and John Obi Mikel to play much more. Due to his lack of matches, he is just like Owen! He loses the attacking instinct, the flare about England and loses a vital thing... sharpness! Joe Cole needs to play more and score more to retain his regular England starting place! He needs to follow the example set by Lampard.

you speak like an arsenal fan, they have no interest in the England team either. you do not give up because you are not playing well, if everyone had that attitude you would have no sport at all. little countries like Scotland and Andorra keep on trying to get it right so why should,nt we. at least we have won it once before.

These things go in cycles. Right now, the talent is a bit below par. Eventually, things will improve as new blood becomes available.

I see most England matches, and it looks to me like they almost always play down to the level of their competition. It's a mental state that allows them to coast to wins against lesser teams but it carries over into big matches where England almost never rise up to the challenge of truly talented teams.

I was there .
Althought it was a half decent team, England weren't as inspirational up front.
Both Micah Richards and Shaun Wright-Philips were great.
Seems like they need to work on the next generation, using speed and agility to beat their opposition.

Germany has always been better than England.... in just about everything, not just soccer.
If I were English, I'd try to join the Euro as quickly as I could.
You know the saying, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"

Err no. We could be a lot, LOT worse (ie, Namibian sport in general). England need to focus on their strengths, and concentrate on what we HAVE got, rather than who we lack. That way we will improve no end.
Now, will you please crawl back to your droning little corner of suburbia, and learn to use that lump of jelly in your head - it's called a brain and is home to your mind - rather than just regurgitating what everybody else on this site has been saying all day.
