I need a monologue for one of my drama classes at college and I was wondering if any of you knew of any good monologues. What I'm looking for is something that lasts about 10 minutes in length, and something thats in more modern English (not Shakespearean language/old english) if at all possible. I'm also trying to stay away from big name plays/musicals that way I'm not being compared to the actor who played the part. Thanks for any help.

go to the library and read some plays

I never heard of a 10 min monologue, maybe a monodrama.

Ps. Shakespeare is modern English, just a little different from what you are used to.

Monologues aren't ten minuets, they are a lot shorter. And if you do one from a big- time musical, you likely won't be compared. Here are my suggestions.
Wicked
Annie
Fiddler on the roof
