The youth that I know is actually neither. It's surviving with out have to do very much. If you ask most grade-school kids most think they will be rich when they grow up. So probably the earn lots of money.
Don't know if I am still considered a "youth" (probably am) but I go more for higher studies that happen to pay well. The reason being is if I lose my job, I can get another because I am educated. The higher pay is to cover living expenses, do you know how much housing is?

Money seems to be the motivating factor.I am surprised to find students who don't burn the midnight oil for their studies, stay wide awake at Call centres. Some of them do this to earn enough to support their Higher studies like M.B.A in a reputed institute in India or abroad. But most of them want to start earning early in their lives. If you ask me: "For what?" I would say: "Money means different things to different people!"

it will be wrong to generalise, society is always hybrid. There are ones whose aim is surley money and there others who want to pursue study. The problem is power and respect from both sources is difft. I believe surroundings and circumstances guide each individuals judgement and desire. what do you think a rikishaw pullers son desire or aim for in compared to middle class man's child? it is though provoking

Competition Is driving everybody MAD.Aim is to earn loads of money to survive in this ever growing madness and for that one needs to get loads of degrees and if from abroad all the more better. So it's vice -versa.
