was nothing at all to do with the commencement of the Cold War

There are a couple of things. But I would say the main one is Israel. The Holocaust lead to European Jews wanting a homeland and picked the traditional holy Palestine. The former British Colony eventually let them. However, this upset all the area Muslim countries. You take a Muslim based country and just hand it over to a bunch of immigrating Europeans. Plus, giving their land away because of conflicts and problems in Europe. Why not create an "Israel" in Europe instead of taking their land? So the Muslims felt betrayed and it lead to a lot of Russian Allies for the cold war. Plus some hot points. The six day war heated things up when you have Israel fighting their neighbors and the potential of escalating when they are backed by the West, and their enemy backed by the Soviets.

I've never heard any assertion that the Holocaust led directly to the Cold War. Perhaps as part of a great chain of events where every cause and effect is interlinked, it could be argued but otherwise it's difficult to see.

Possibly some Jewish physicists fleeing the genocide found their asylum in the US because they were seen as valuable to the nuclear project, and certainly Russia's history of pogroms and so on would have made it less attractive, but unless they were absolutely vital then it's still pretty tenuous.

None whatsoever. All the Catholics, communists, Jews, gypsies, Jehovah Witnesses, and other designated enemies of the state all died or suffered in the Holocaust which was over when American, British, and Soviet troops liberated the death camps in 1945.

The Holocaust had nothing at all to do with the cold war.

since babylonian and egyptian captivities there has been an ogoing diaspora. the holocaust was a particularly cruel chapter in this long story. following the surrender of germany, the russian occupation of the eastern europe bloc resulted in much of the cold war, so there was a direct result. russia took over much of the german conquered territories and more. since then the cold war has shifted. russia has realligned with france and the u.s. and they are fighting with china and islam.

If necessary, you could argue that after WWII Germany was occupied by the Allied nations and Russia. I won't get into too much detail, but many tensions resulted in the division and occupation of Germany, particularly between the U.S. and Russia. Both nations clashed when it came to their ideas of democracy, and thus a clash between a capitalist U.S., and communist Russia began.

I have never read or heard of a causal link. I'm going to come back to your Q to see what other responses you get. Is this a homework question? If so, I would really like to know what your instructor's answer is.
