I love the name elle, it is my own daughter's name. When I named her I thought everyone would think of it as the letter L, but no body has. It does mean she, but no one who doesn't speak french will know that. It's a beautifyl and elegant name, I think so too.

Once the child is born you will began to both think of it and speak of it using this name that you choose. This name will be PERMANENT.Why not give the child a name with meaning and with hope and power in it?All of the things that you say, your words every day, these are important and there is a powerful force at work in these words that is unseen.Name your child something with meaning that will reinforce the good and positive things in its life and give the child a name that the child will like even as an adult.I hope someday to have a daughter, and when I do have her,the name is ready and waiting. We will name her BELA,which means "pretty".As her middle name,EPHIPHANY,which means "awakening"(such as the awakening experience we enjoy when we first begin to know that there Is a "GOD").Just do some research into the MEANINGS of whatever names you are considering. My name is WAYNE,which simply means"WAGON",,,,but a wagon is always used for hauling heavy loads.I have worked very HARD all my life. My friend is named CHRIS,,,this name means" the one who bears the light". Ben or Benjamin means "most beloved son". Donna means"little girl". Jessica means "jewel of great value".You might do a GOOGLE search about "baby names",,or even better "biblical names". Look in your search for the female version of the husbands name,or the male version of the wifes name. Think about how she might feel about her name when she becomes an adult?THINK ABOUT IT!

I love it and I think it's beautiful, however I've never heard it as a first name. I know two people with it as a middle name. Oren Elle and Maureen Elle.

Maybe you could use a full name instead of Elle; Gabrielle, Marielle, Isabelle, Clarabelle, etc, and then just call her Elle.

It is a pretty name, but it's nice to have a name you can make a nickname from.

While I like the name Elle, she would constantly be correcting people. Think of it. Your name is "L"? Leave the name to a magazine cover and come up with something that actually is a name vs. a part of speech. My Great-Aunt was named Sabine (changed to Sabina when she got US citizenship) and named two of her daughters Adele and Colette.

I think that "Elle" is a beautiful girl's name! Maybe alternatives to that name could be "Ella" or "Ellie". Any of them are beautiful, and even though it means "she," that makes it a powerful name because it should make her proud to be a woman!

I would say that ella is probably better, not because it means "she", even though that's part of it, but because i find elle more difficult to say. i stumbled over it, expecting an "a" at the end. both are pretty, though.
