I have a car that has extended warranty, unfortunately my car is not at the dealer at this time. Its at a different shop, as I am out of town and my folks have the car. It needs work done, can that be covered under warranty, or do I have to go to the dealer in order to receive warranty service. Or can I show the bill to the dealer and be reimbursed?

most of the time they want it to be done at the dealer,they may deny you this repair,this is one of the bad things about those warranty's they have a way of getting out of paying on them,you can try though,id present them with the bill and tell them it was a have to case,all they can do is deny payment on it,good luck with it.

I DEAL WITH THIS ON A DAILY BASIS AND THE FIRST THING THAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO IS CALL THE WARRANTY COMPANY OR TELL THE SHOP THAT YOU ARE AT TO CALL THEM FOR YOU.

THIS WILL BE A 50/50 CASE AND IF THE POLICY STATES ONLY THE DEALER THEN ONLY THE DEALER CAN FIX IT UNLESS YOU ARE MORE THAN 50 TO 100 MILES FROM ANY DEALER.

Depends on the policy. The extended warranty is nothing more than an insurance policy. Depending on who issued it, you may have different options on where the repair can be made. If it was only issued by the dealership you may be in trouble, but if it is a national policy you may be able to take it to another certified repair center that is associated with the insurance carrier.
Best answer is to call the insurance company that issued the policy and ask them.

Very simple. Where ever the repair shop is, before they start working on it they MUST, and I repeat MUST contact your extended contract vendor to determine if the failure is covered and, if so, obtain an authorization number for the subsequent claim. The repair shop may require you to pay for the repair and have you send the receipt to the vendor for reimbursement. Do not, under any circumstance, allow the repair shop to repair your vehicle without conforming to the above. Extended service contracts are great, but you must follow their rules and RULE NUMBER ONE is "Get authorization before any repairs are made. Period! End of discussion."

I would take it to the dealer, just to be safe. Read the paper work, and see what they say. The only exception may be if it is an emergency, and even then, they may want to know why it wasn't done at the dealers. good luck.

Read the papers you got with your extended warranty. It will tell you what is and is not allowed.

it may be be i think not, if it is a ford then take it to the nearest ford dealer if chey then chevy dealer, that is your best option
