How far along are u? My midwife told me the same thing, she took me off work for 2 weeks and told me to drink 16 glasses of water...shes a total quack. I switched to a real doctor and he did a higher level ultrasound and he said everything looked fine. They were measuring wrong. What a relief to hear that, she had me off work for another 2 weeks and the OB said no I'm perfectly fine with u going back to work. So now Ive switched to him for the rest of my pregnancy. And he also told me drinking more water wont make amniotic fluid, the baby makes the amniotic fluid. Just drink the normal 8-10 glasses a day. The midwife also said we couldn't see what I was having because the baby was sitting on her feet. Went to the specialist and he looked and in 3 seconds he said u have a little girl.
so maybe if I were u I would get a 2nd opinion, and a ultrasound done with someone else. I am now considered high risk and I'm not high risk, but they dont want to take that off for insurance reasons.

Probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes if your placenta isn't working as well, you may get low amniotic fluid, but most often it is a temporary condition and you just need to drink more water.
You amniotic fluid is regenerated several times a day, so it can be a quick fix to drink a few glasses of water.

I would do what they say-pregnancy requires lots of fluids-and fluids aren't soda or tea. Drink lots of water-64 oz a day-and let the doctor know that the comment about low fluid really worried you. See if she can tell you if since you have increased your fluid intake the baby has more fluid. I am sure that if there was more to worry about they would have told you. So for now-drink your water and wait until the next apt.

it can be dangerous, the fluid is the babies cushion, if its too low he can compress the umbillical cord and cause injury or death. But the # 1 reason for low fluid is dehydration. Your dr is right to have you drink more, at least 60 oz of water a day. And yes, you will pee more!!! But thats alos a good thing, it helps flush your system

How far along are you? Drinking water doesn't increase your amniotic fluid. Amniotic fluid is your baby's urine, the placenta "cleans" it, and that is what helps your baby develop. How low was your fluid? Not to scare you, but this can be very serious. When do you go back? Maybe you should see someone else.

That happened to me around my due date they said there were air pockets inside, and that it must be leaking, but low amniotic fluid Ive never heard of. I didn't know it was possible. Was it due to dehyration?

It could be. It could also not be. How far along are you? There could be a leak. I would get a second opinion right away.
I always believed that too little fluid or too much was not a good sign.
