I know they lost to Argentina in the previous olympics, but if you look at the Argentinian roster, their only stars are Manu Ginobli, Andres Nocioni, and Francisco Oberto. Those three players are only mediocre compared to the others in the NBA. So why did the US team lose to mediocre NBA players?

the US don't play a team game. International basketball is a lot different from NBA basketball. Mediocre players are better when they play and think about the team concept of the game.

The US national team is all about being the big star and throwing down the big dunks. They say they care about winning but for the past few international competions they haven't cared about winning and that is why we are seeing more and more NBA teams draft foreign players with the high draft picks.

I think the USA has the best players - but they are often not the best team.
