Charlie C. You should be an astronaut. You surely are in orbit. God Is Almighty! Now stick to the question!

It just goes to show that "man" thinks they can control and find out everything in the name of science.

I completely agree! Our government spends millions - perhaps billions - of dollars on NASA and the space programs annually. Half the time, those so-called astro physicists cannot even put a reliable vessle together that will transport the astronauts to and from safely. Gambling with people's lives in the name of science is just absurd.
You're right - we have tons of problems here on Earth that need our immediate attention. What a waste of money!

A great deal of our present technology has been developed because of the money spent on space and literally trillions of dollars are pumped into our economy because of that technology through jobs created. One of my sons is a robotics consultant in the D.C area, a field which would have been years more in developing had it not been for space exploration. Sometimes, we fail to see the benefits of those billions spend, but they're all around us - including that device setting in front of you from which you read these words. Cheer up! You could be typing this stuff on a typewriter and waiting for the postman.

Because without the ability to travel to other worlds and/or live in a space station of some sort, all life on this planet is doomed. The sun will eventually consume this planet and everything on it.

Also, you never know what kind of advances will happen as a byproduct of being able to go into space. Here are some examples:

Great question. I have to think it is because the people behind the space program are little boys in big boy suits who get to play with big toys. I'm with you, put the money into getting the homeless off the streets of such a plentiful country; get health care to those who can't afford to live; get teachers better salaries and better equipment to teach with; the list is endless. Keep the $$$$$ out of outer-space.

Uhh, hellooo, they're searching for the answers outside of earth to solve our "earthly problems." Our earthly problems are so major, people have to leave it to find the solutions. If only they could go to heaven and come back with the ultimate solutions.

Edit: Face it, most of Earths problems are beyond Earth's repair. That's why we need to go beyond Earth to find solutions to Earth's problems.

Some of the answers to our problems here may be descovered using space travel. Better power supplies, better growing procedures, even medical research can aquired through space travel. Many inovations are directly linked to research done in space or done in preparation to go to space.

They're disproving the existence of God. They're learning more and more and more and more

Pretty soon, they will have so much information, there will be no need to even think a God exist

Most Nasa employees are Atheists

The belief in God has caused the majority of the problems on earth. So, it's a good idea

I agree with you. It is selfish of our government. They could help the poor with that money, but instead they want to live out their Star Wars fantasies.
