Alright so honestly, I'm quite into learning things and I'm quite sure there are a lot of people who probably know tons more on the subject. I was just wondering what the real history behind it all, there's so many theories now it confuses me. I'd also like peoples actual opinions on the subject. I don't know what ever you can tell me would make me extrodinarily happy.

I believe the origin on vampyres was from gypsy folktales. The tales were used to ala moral stories or "why you should be good" from around the area of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania.

The tales took on a tragic, yet real turn with the rise to power of Vlad Dracul Tempes, otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler, and most commonly known as Dracula.

Dracul I also believe is the Romanian term for dragon, just an aside here.

Vlad was so bloodthirsty in his conquests that it was rumored that he was or had become a vampire because his deeds were so heinous and vile that only a monster such as a vampire could commit them. Vlad was most famous for putting his vicitms, which included captured soldiers, peasants that revolted, and those that did not pay homage to him, on pikes that lined the road to his castle. The victims were still living when this was done.

From there the mythos was just tales told around camps until Bram Stoker found out and wrote his wonderful fiction book Dracula.

As to if I think vampires are real, only to an extent. All myths, legends, and stories have a basis of fact in the distant path. Did the gypsies encounter such creatures? Possibly, but not the ones we think they are or what their capabilities are.

Hi and good morning....The legend of the Vampyre or Vampire. Actually Braum Stoker is the creator of the vamp and his idea came from Vlad Dracula from Romania I believe. He was also known as Vlad the Impaler who was the ruler from (1456-1462). Now during his reign he was known to drink the blood of his captures. Why I have no idea but I believe this is where Braum Stoker got his idea in creating the 'Vampire theory'. There is a good website to visit if you want to know further about Vlad Dracula, I have listed it below.Have a great day!

I was into this HUGE vampire fetish a few years ago. I was intrigued by them also and read so much about them that I forgot nearly everything I learned from them. But if I can remember correctly...

Vampires are merely bats that drink blood from animals. They don't turn into actual people though. Vampyres, in a sense, do exist, but not like the ones you see in horror films in hollywood. Modern vamps DO feed on blood, but they never take it from a "victim". They only take it if someone willingly offers it to them. The majority of the time, they feed on energy so they spend a great deal of time in shopping malls, or public crowded places. And no, they do not fear sunlight or garlic or crosses.

That's about all I can remember. In my opinion I think it's sort of like a religious experience for them. It's the general idea. If you want more info, go on the site listed on my source.

It comes from a disease called Porphyria:
Porphyria runs in my family and although ive was tested negative ive researched it extensively.

Porphyria, an inherited disease and causes skin issues, such as photosensitivity, sufferers can’t go into the sun as it causes, blisters, itching and swelling. Interestingly, the main issue with porphyria is lack of production of heme, the principal ingredient of blood. Even mild exposure to the sun can cause severe disfigurement.
Peasants who had the disease would hide desperately from the sun in the day, they would lock themselves in dark places, away from the daylight, this included burying themselves in the earth. If exposed, lips and gums would become so taut that the teeth project like fangs.
Porphyria sufferers are allergic to most antibiotics and back then Garlic was known for its natural antibiotic properties. Another reason for the garlic was that It apparently was also thought that it was the smell of the decomposing victims that spread Bubonic Plague. So, blocking the smell could prevent the Plague; and wearing garlic could repel Vampires.
Porphyria can be treated with injections of blood products. Centuries ago, porphyria victims might have sought to treat themselves by drinking blood

Dracula seems to be the only one people are interested in, however there are many infamous, like le stat, armard, the region Transylvania is the most common place however instances of them appearing in other countries travelling form there are many. Historically they can't wash, as they cannot go in water, sterling silver repel them and so does anything with a strong smell as they have esp(extra sensory perception)so garlic, curry, onions etc. The reason why they come out at night is because they are photosensitive, in which their eyes are sensitive to light and they have extraordinary strength and agility.
