i've got the mic boost on and the mic thinger turned up all the way in the volume control - recording and playback. (and yes it's on lol) but it's still very quiet. it's plugged in where it's sposed to be. i've tried it with multiple programs and it's still really quiet. i have to turn my speakers up pretty far to hear it.

Try a different mic or test it in another PC.
OR test it in dxdiag. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag, OK. Select Network tab then click on DirectPlay Voice Options. Run Wizard.
If mic tests bad or fails, it might be a compatibility problem.

slide the wave lenght bar up higher for volume

try reviewing the volume of the other aplications as Musicmatch VLC, winamp.
