99% of the people out there aren't as smart as them?

I have caught myself wondering....and heard others saying....maybe even more than 1% of the people out there have been known to say such a thing?=))))

Are people just 'closed off' in public situations? Do people need to really talk, in depth with one another to see the intellect?

Are we missing connections through lack of mindfulness?

are we all stupid?=)

I truly believe everyone has something to say and should be heard. But we do lack the art of communication with each other face to face. And yes, we do need to talk in depth to see the intellect. I know some of my quick answers here or in person can show a lack of intellect and I hate being around people who think they are superior. My husband had a t-shirt that said, "I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person!" I really didn't like it, and suppose that's why he can't find it :) And everybody has their strong areas and weak ones of expertise that may not match yours and thus the decision people make of saying someone is ignorant.

Those who assume that "99% of the people out there aren't as smart as they are, are 100% ego-trippers. They chance to discover a bright thing or two, and brag to themselves that they're smart. I got one here exactly as that right behind my back now. He thinks all ideas beyond his own are stupid, and only his ideas stand right...only his "ideas" (that's what he calls them). He doesn't acknowledge mistakes from his side because he thinks only others are meant to screw up. And how could he? He's "the smart ***"!

If they're smart enough they will know; I'm talking about them.
Peace, man!

Our world is often composed of only the people we know, the rest are invisible or non-existant to us. Few of us operate in a world which contains even 1/1,000 % of 1% of people in this country alone. It is easy to be smarter than those to whom you attribute no intellect by reason of their non-existence. People are "closed off" and need to encounter more of the world than they normally do. We're not "stupid", but we could all do with a bit more mindfulness.

I think it's because we can only "see" with our own eyes. Your perception or opinion make perfect sense to you and you can't understand how someone can arrive at an answer that is 180o from you.

I think you are right though, we need to really listen to each other and speak in depth, instead in throw away lines to truly understand each other. And sometimes it takes a little space and time to mull over arguments or debates. We tend to pick sides and get committed to right and wrong instead of what makes the most sense.

I believe that the root of the problem,is sinful pride which itself has a deeper tap root in negative thinking about one's self, and it's outward manifestations are used as a defensive shield

Changing your thinking, will change your focus and eventually change who you are.

Jesus said: Whom so ever would be the greatest among you,let him be the servant of all..

Paul, said : “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself.

What if everyone actually practiced these two ideas?

I dont know that they do. I always taught my kids to say " I may not be better than you but Im every bit as good" I think that is a good healthy take on life. I taught them not to talk others down or themselves up. Mind you kids being kids they sometimes have other ideas.

Was just talking about this with a friend. When you think about it, everyone is smarter than someone in one way or another.

And people are just arrogant in many ways.

It's only egos shoring up their defenses - pushing people away.
