You really need to talk to your parents because you will need their support if you want to do this. Rehearsals for shows can take up an enormous amount of time and of course you will need to get to and from these rehearsals (sometimes 6 nights a week) and without their help you just can't do it.

High school theatre and local theatres in your community are the best places for you to start. Check here:
www.backstage.com - casting search
www.actorsaccess.com - create a free account, then look at the breakdowns

You should also look at the Calendar section of your newspaper to see what theatres are near you. Check out the websites for those theatres and see if they list their auditions online (most do). Some even have an email notification list you can sign up for.

good luck!

Marianne D's answer is very good. I would like to add that if you can get dance lessons as well it would be very helpful, also explore the many other diverse areas of theater: costume, set construction, painting, lighting, stagehand, stage management etc. The full thespian experience is very gratifying. I've been doing it for about 40 years now and would not trade the experience for anything. There is nothing akin to playing to a full house in a hit show, or just being a part of the group of craftsmen and artisans that is required to achieve that end. Go for it and enjoy.

Singing and acting is a very tough business to get into. But that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Take some signing and acting lessons.Try out for the school play and join a local theater group.

You start in church, in the community, and in school. Take advantage of every opportunity to perform in these venues. Take voice and acting lessons. Later, when you have something to offer, you can get an agent.

Brittany Murphy can actually sing really well. I would buy her cd. And she can act. And yeah, Beyonce isn't a good actress...
