Shakespeare's always good to read for unusual but beautiful names. Charles Dickens is also worth a look at. Half an hour in the literary classic section of your local bookstore should give you some ideas. Just don't get kicked out for treating it as a library ;o)

There are hundreds of Celtic/Irish baby name websites so a quick search engine search for 'celtic baby names' will keep you busy for hours.

There's a list of ancient names here for you to peruse:

Flower and tree names are very traditional and some are very beautiful.

Or you could think about historical figures you admire. I love the name Violette because of Violette Szabo. Don't go berserk though & name your daughter Boudica or Cleopatra, that could be a lot to live up to :o)

Good luck
xx

A lot of old fashioned names are becoming popular again. Some of the ones that were previously on my list (Sofia, Ella, etc) are now not as appealing to me because they are just too common.

My first daughter is named Miranda, which is not very old fashioned but we do not hear it often which I like (and the name is a combination of her father and I's names, which makes it more special).

We are currently awaiting the arrival of Gwendalyn, which is certainly old fashioned but I think it sounds nice. Gwendalyn is a form of Guinevere, which the name Jennifer is derived from. Not that any of that matters to me, it is just a fact I recently learned about the name.

You can go to the website for the Social Security Administration, and they have the most popular names for each year going back to the 50's (and possibly before). That will give you an idea of what is too popular for your tastes now, and what was popular 'way back when' that you might would like to use now.

I have always loved the name Cora. Or the original spellings of Kora or Kore. It is Greek for "Maiden" and was often the name Persephone was refered to by.

I also like:
Viviana
Viviane (pronounced Viv-ee-ann, slightly different than Vivian, all forms of Vivian, though mean "vivacious", I think its a great meaning for a girl:) )
Olivia
Joanna

and there are many others I like, but my brain isnt working right now, lol.
