I think it is hard for Americans to believe anything else because their media is tightly controlled by right wing companies or companies that refuse question what happens.

They talk of freedom in the US but their media is anything but free. The same garbage is churned out by every channel and more often than not Paris Hilton comes above the real political issue on the mainstream programs.

The White House feeds carefully controlled stories to the media who don't even think about questioning them. They simply report them verbatim.

This is also a symptom of lazy journalism which has taken over the role of real journalists. Long gone are the days of investigative reporting. Reports now just rehash what they are told and collect their pay check and the media bosses and of the course the government seem to be happy to let that continue.

Americans seem brainwashed by their TV having been fed soap opera after soap opera and little substance. When I was in the States I couldn't stand their TV and was happy to get back to Ireland where I could watch investigative journalism which raised difficult questions.

I can never see a day where Watergate will ever again be uncovered in the US. Those days are gone. That was big blow for America and it seems that government have subtly made sure that it won't happen again.

Sometimes. And indeed, many people enter a state of denial when it is extremely difficult to face the truth. This is the cause of multiple personality disorders.

For the GOP the very ability to even get out of bed in the morning DEPENDS on forced ignorance. Would they finally see the light, their fragile minds would shatter, and the last few million people living in bushco ignorance would be reduced to wandering the streets talking to themselves like so many homeless bums.

I would much prefer the truth, however I find that as with most of our elected officials, the truth you only hear when they are running, then it changes to lies.

How sad is that, that the government we should all look up to is the same government who operates under their own rules?

Does it make you feel better to keep saying you were lied to? Do you think if you say it enough it'll become true?
