Well put it this way, i am more likely to keep a tighter hold on my handbag while walking past a group of teenage boys or men in their early twenties than I am when walking past a middle aged woman.
It's easy to generalise though. Not all young men are thugs/muggers/rapists etc. Just as not all professionals are law abiding citizens who never put a foot wrong.
