Surely, this cannot be August. Here, in East Anglia, we haven't seen a glimmer of sunshine for at least three days. We have had gale force winds which brought several trees down, loads of rain and, what seems like a dark grey blanket for the sky.
The temperature is about 14 degrees. Last night I would easily have given in and put the central heating on but I couldn't because we have an air lock that we have to sort.
I just hope the rest of you have got the sun 'cos we certainly haven't.

It is f...ing cold and wet here in the smoke. I have had my heating on for three nights now. Just been to France & Belgium and it is the same there. My Mum lives in East Anglia and she said the same as you. Maybe we will have an Indian summer

Here in my part of Northern California, is going to be in the low 100's, as was yesterday and projected high 90's to low 100's for the coming week. Also higher humidity than normal for the night, so that you have to leave the Air conditioning on to be able to get a restful sleep, without tossing and turning as your soaked in sweat. But I get up mid-morning to do my business, then I can turn off the A/C and open the windows again as it has finally cooled down by then.

Southeast US is in a heat wave and drought. But hurricane season will change that eventually. I have seen where England, Scotland and Wales have been so much cooler this summer. It seems you did not get your 100 days of summer this year. Batten down the hatches and prepare for winter.
We are in the 90's with sun. Still using the pool and watering the lawn.

Not here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We have just finished with one storm front (and the resultant buckets of rain), and judging by the quickly darkening sky, are going to get another. And it is supposed to be like this for the next three or four days.

We ARE supposed to come out of our unseasonal deep freeze today however (temperatures of 10 or 11C overnight for the last week) with a humidex into the high 30s today, and reaching over 40C tomorrow. (How is THAT for temperature fluctuattions?)

The only time the sun came out was yesterday, when I was trying to cut my 8000 sq ft of lawn. I ended up having to take THREE rest breaks in order to finish, and came away looking like I'd had the hose trained on me, I was just swimming in sweat!!

It surely would be nice to return to our NORMAL August weather, wouldn't it?

I'm in TN, it's HOT, I think everything is dying! This is like the 15th day our temperatures have soared to over 100 degrees. I have so many plants and the city has posted signs not to water unnecessarily because there is a water shortage. My lawn is dead and we have had virtually no rain in over a month. Heat advisories are in effect for days at a time and several deaths have occurred in our state. I understand yesterday several high school football players collapsed at practice and one remains in critical condition. I pray every night the coaches, band directors and other directors who are teaching our children at extra curricular activities are closely watching for signs of distress.

Idaho--gorgeous days and nights in the 50's. Very dry and many fires burning the forests now and threatening many houses near Ketchum--which is just a jump away from Sun Valley. They are considering moving the artificial snow machines from Sun Valley and using them as a giant sprinkler system. Our high today should be 85.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. This morning and for most of the day I was on the other side of the Berkeley/Oakland hills, where the temperature was in the upper 80s. On my side of the hills, being so close to the bay it is a lovely 70. We are having beautiful weather. My tomato plants love it, and so do I.

Yes I'm on the Suffolk coast, the local Carnival on Monday was a wash out, it is very cold, gales, rain, very rough seas, groups of disconsolate holiday makers, with few distractions to alleviate the misery of the so called holiday weather.Where is the Sun?
