I don't support wire tapping at all. I think it is a necessary evil in order to protect us with the new technology available today. But there is a right way to go about it. It should be an amendment to the constitution with very specific rules and guidelines that protect it's citizens from government misuse. In it's current form, it is wrong, and should be stopped until it can be supported by the constitution.

No, tapping a phone line without a warrant is illegal no matter who does it.
Furthermore with the FISA court, if they have probable cause thy can start tapping the line immediately and get the warrant retroactively for up to a week. The only catch is that they are required to have probable cause beforehand.
The only reasonable explanation of why they would not get a warrant is that they are doing blanket wire taps on everyone.

Ahh, nothing lets the president wire tap phone calls made inside the US, unless they have a warrent issued by a judge.
The NSA program only deals with phone calls originated in foreign countries.

Not at all. Contrary to the lies told by Bush and the neocons--and I do mean LIES--liberals and the majority of the American people DO NOT oppose the use of wiretaps for needed surveillance. What we do oppose--and will oppose under any circumstances by anyone--is WARRENTLESS spying.
There is NO VALID REASON--none--for government officials to have the power to spy on people without either warrents or court review. What Bush and his thugs want is the power to do that without having to be accountabile. No one with honest motives wants or needs that kind of power.

Nope, I wouldn't feel different. All I want is oversight and that is not too much to ask. Let the FBI wiretap whoever the hell they want.. so long as they get a warrant.

Whoever it is, it's wrong. It's not the person, it's the actions of the person. There are ways to lawfully wiretap, if you can't get the warrant, you can't listen in.

I don't know how I would feel about a government that would have to resort to wire tapping.
