My father called and told me on my way to work this morning! YAY! The baby was due around labor day (Sept. 3rd) and it is Aug. 23rd....what complications might the baby have by being early? Also, she had to receive (2) epidurals..what could be the reasons why the first one didn't take? Thanks!

Oh and one more question....the baby was breeched...so they had to use a suction to deliver the baby. Could this do any harm?

The second epid could be due to the length of the labor or due to the dosage that they gave your sister. 10 days early is no big deal. While ideally it would be great it everything wnet as planned but lots of babies turn at the last minute and need suction. There are usually no long term effects, there maybe markings on the head right now, but that will go away soon.
Enjoy your new niece or nephew and stop worrying.

First off- CONGRATS!!! Your sister really didnt have the baby early at all. A woman is considered full term at 37 weeks so there should be no complications since she was past that. It is common for epidurals to not take the first time. Sometimes it just isnt in the right spot. Suction is ok too. Her baby will be fine and she should have no problems.

If she was due on Sept 3rd then that would have been 40 weeks. She delivered today at 38wks 3 days, a full-term baby is anywhere from 37-42 weeks so baby is perfectly full-term and on time. He should be having no complications from this.
Also, sometimes the epidural doesn't work the first time because it is slightly misplaced in the epidural space. It will sometimes have only half of the mother's body numb. It is actually pretty common for it to have to be re-placed.

CONGRATULATIONS AUNTIE!!!!!
The baby was really only a little over a week early, which probably will not cause any complications. Unless you know the exact time of conception, it is hard to predict exactly when the baby will be born... they usually get it within a week or two, either before or after the due date.
I am not sure about the epidural, but I wouldn't worry, because if anything it just numbed her more so she felt less pain during delivery..
Congrats again!

There should not be any problems with the baby. At that point in the pregnancy the baby is fully developed and mainly is just gaining weight. My son was born almost 4 weeks early and the only complication he had was he had to be on oxygen for the first 18 hrs.

First congrats you are an Aunt! This baby was only a little early should cause no problems, She needed a second epidural because the first one started to wear off before the baby came and VBAC is a safe procedure and baby should have no problems from it.

Well The baby might not even have any complications.. It wasnt that early. some babies are just ready earlier and are already fully developed! And some ppl have more than 1 epidural beacause of pain.. My sister had 4. Just because she was feeling too much pain.

A baby is considered full term after 37 weeks, so no worries there. The suction will probably leave a bruise on the head, but it will go away. The doctor used suction on my youngest. I don't remember hoe long it took, but it did go away.

No worries, that's only like 1 1/2 weeks early. My baby was born 2 1/2 weeks early, perfectly healthy, no complications. As for your other questions, I have no knowledge about them.
