Libs say that no one can make that connection but it's okay for libs to do so? You know, the "... a quagmire like Vietnam..." in reference to Iraq?

Rove - The biggest and almost only blunder is that we let the media sway us from the facts of what is really going there and our intentions of entering both conflicts.

hopeful for change - The "dodging the draft" issue was debunked years ago concerning Bush just like the AWOL ordeal. He didn't go to Vietnam, true but he did get drafted.

Because it is a one way street. Bush is bad and everything he says in bad. If this certain portion of the libs (granted only a portion) make a reference it is the gospel and those who don't agree are just wrong or misinterpreting what they meant.

Because Bush is making a different point than the libs. The libs are referring to Vietnam being an unpopular war that we lost and also may have been predicated on lies.

Bush is referring to the fact that despite the fact the war cost us 59,000 soldiers that the Vietnamese are now are friends and have a better economy.

I would say to those liberals, those some not all,

to shut up and let the president continue with the comparrison

Edit: The person who asks this question doesn't come off as homosexual or angry at all, I don't see where that ad hominem attack came from its unjustified.

The person who is asking this question might have a different world view then you or myself but that doesn't mean he is angry,

I think the problem is he isnt angry enough at America's problems, like our education system lagging behind the rest of the world but maybe he is I don't know,

our 4 year olds are pretty soon going to be going to school, mine hopefully a good military one close by where he goes for the day and we can go pick him up at night, cause I want him to get that discipline that I think lacks in other areas

Simple--the similarities that liberals--and many military men--are pointing to between Iraq and Vietnam are based on the history and facts: the falsified "evidence' used to get the US involved, the fact that both are civil wars, etc.

Bush's 'connection" is nothing more than his endless repeated nonsense that "we hae to stay the course or we will encourage al-Qaida" with the ridiculous claim that al-Qaida attacked us because they thought our withdrawal from Vietnam showed weakness. With not one shred of evidence to support such an absurd statement.

Further--IF al-Qaida ever launches another attack on America, they will be able to do so because BUSH has given them sanctuary in Pakistan to rebuild their strength and organization for 5 years. THAT is showing weakness, not withdrawing from a futile military adventure we should nevr have started in the first place.

you can say that about alot.........and point your cannon in ANY direction and be right. the libs do it...and the cons do it.....and then they hide in details.

how many liberals said "there is no possibility of diplomacy with saddam hussein" back when clinton dropped some bombs on him....and THEN said bush's attack was a diplomatic failure?

how many conservatives say that they "changed their mind" on iraq, only to attack hillary for doing the same?

it's political nature....but hypocrisy NEVER EVER speaks to the issue at hand.

I don't see the point in comparing them in justification for making our troops stay in Iraq, and in order to say now, roughly 30 years later, that we should have stayed in Vietnam.

As I had said in a previous answer to a similar question, I don't feel I have the right to compare Iraq to Vietnam because I wasn't alive when Vietnam was happening. I didn't live through the news headlines and I didn't get to hear the current President's speeches to tell us basically to "stay the course".

As Bush dodged the draft for Vietnam, what does he know about it firsthand, in order to make the comparison for himself?

Or did someone in his administration tell him if he finally mentioned Vietnam in a speech it would make him look better to the American public?

I thought conservatives don't smoke hemp.

Anyways libs only connect the failures of Nam and Iraq and Conservatives only connect the success of Nam and Iraq.

It's not hard and Quagmire is not in Nam he is in Rhode Island.

Giggity, Giggity Goo!!!!!!!!!

All Right.

I think the thing is... we are just astounded that he is actually trying to drum up support for Iraq by implying we should have stayed in Vietnam... I mean really... .... wow.

Because it doesn't make any sense. When is the last time the Via Kong blew up a building on American soil? Personal opinion, he's comparing apples and oranges. It would be like comparing the Vietnam conflict to WW1. Each war is unique and should be given autonomy.
