My dark clothes are always covered with lint when I wash them in my machine. I want to know why and how I can prevent it.

I often find that when my clothes are covered in lint its because ive left a tissue in my pockets or something like that. It is a royal pain to pick all that lint off. But usually i just stick it in the dryer and when it comes out i can shake the lint off. Also they make these little velcro balls that you throw in the wash and dryer that collect lint.

The friction of the clothes rubbing together causes the lint. Turn the garments inside out before you wash them , then if you get lint it will be on the inside of the clothing, not the outside.

Lint can form on same colour as well as different colour clothing, dark lint on light clothing will be more visible, and vice-versa. Use a clothes shaver from Wal Mart to get the lint off that you have on your clothes now.

You have to be careful what you are putting in the wash, never put towels in with your clothes, check out if you are adding fleece like clothes that the lint will come off and go onto all the other wash.

Use a fabric softener sheet in the dryer. This reduces the static electricity that builds up causing the lint to be attracted to your clothes. Also, wash your dark clothes separately from light ones to reduce the light lint.

u are probably washing towels in the washer before the dark clothes. run the machine on empty let it go thru a full cycle and then wash the clothes first and towels last. make sure it spins and dries completely before removing the towels and shake them out. this should take care of the lint problem...

Clean the lint filter in your washing machine.

Don't wash towels with the clothes.

Turn them inside out and wipe out your washing machine, to get out any lint, before you do your darks.

I read that rinsing your load in vinegar will help remove the lint. You can't just do it once, though. You need to rinse about 4 or 5 times in vinegar, and you will notice the amount of lint has gotten less. Best of luck!

Separate whites and light colors.
Dark should be washed separately.
Is only way as lint does come out and sticks.
Black.dark shows on white/ light. And vice versa.

I turn my clothes inside out when I wash them. Also make sure to separate your laundry, e.g., towels as one load, jeans and other dark heavy fabrics as a separate load, then your light colours and lighter fabrics. Always make sure you check any pockets for any loose kleenex and such.
