I will quickly visit Malaysia and Thailand. Will I miss something very important and (maybe) unique in the region if I don't enjoy the jungle train (Gemas to Thumbat)? I am from Canada.

Nope - unless you have really want to be 'immersed' in greenery for long durations of time. Don't expect to see animals while riding on a train - rainforest creatures, 90% of them are up in the canopy half the day, which is 30 to 40 meters off the ground. So even if you took the time to hike through the forest, such as by spending a few days in the national park Taman Negara in Pahang, you wouldn't see many animals.

Not really.
Beside jungle, there are nothing much you can see. Actually cannot say jungle also. It's just passing through some small town or village.

well, jungle train routes are for long distance. eg north - south.

if u wanna see the city then u must take the intercity railway system.

by the way, it's "Tumpat" not "Thumbat"

jungle train? i didnt kno got this type of train. i thought only tarzan has jungle train. i hope to kno more too.
you not afraid of wild wild animals or bad people in jungle?
