the personal property there pertains to self not things.

According to the Bill of Rights, the only way to lose rights is through due process of law.

The Bill of Rights speaks to both personal property (things) and rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness). Neither of which can be abriged (taken away or impeded) without due process of law.
