A Roofie refers specifically to Rohypnol, a powerful hypnotic and sedative commonly refered to as the "Date Rape Drug" because it is often used to facilitate sexual assault. It causes dizzieness drowsiness, weakness, confusion, and anterograde amnesia. A Mickie is a generic term refering to any drug added to someone's food or drink to incapacitate them. It can include a virtually endless list of compounds that have sedative, hypnotic, or immobilizing effects, including roofies.

A Mickie refers to chloral hydrate (2,2,2-trichloroethane-
1,1-diol) frequently used a drug that was used and abused due to it's ease of manufacture in the 19th century.

One would slip chloral hydrate into another persons drink and it would knock them out for about an hour. It was also called a "Mickey Finn". It was used sometimes to fill crews for long ocean cargo runs to China - someone who was "Mickey Finned" was said to have been "Shanghai'd"
