This is the year 2007. We are not e ver going back to the time when the woman was pretty much her husband's slave. They still live that way over in some Muslim countries. It ain't happenin' here in the U.S. of A. except where any woman is so pitiful and meek that she will allow herself to be treated that way by ANY man, her husband or anyone else.
It is a shame and a disgrace that there are men here who still expect this kind of abject obedience from their wife or girlfriend; and a shocking thing that there are still women who, for some misguided reasons of their own, feel that they have to put up with it.
Let the word go out, say I, that NO woman, anywhere, has any obligation to be "dominated" by her male companion, husband, father, brother or whoever it is. Our human species is divided into two genders and they are equal. E.Q.U.A.L. ALL men are going to get the message sooner or later, that they are on an equal footing with their female species counterparts. They are not superior to them, nor have they any right to be dominant over them. Those men who can't, or wont accept that, too bad for them. They wont be around for much longer, because they will get old and die like the rest of us, and the children who are coming up after them will be the children of a brand new age where the centuries old notion (generated by men of course) that they are the dominant and superior ones, will finally have been laid to rest where it belongs..... in a grave alongside those who still believe it's the way things ought to be. Finally, after Millennia, the human species will be united as a single unit composed of people who will be evaluated for their skills, abilities, and character, and not their anatomical components.

Yes, to an extent, the wife does have a duty to obey her husband. How else will the marriage work? But in this, it means she must obey what's reasonable, sensible and civilized. She has the right to disobey and put her foot down if the husband is doing illegal, or immoral things. In basic words, God is watching everything, and He does expect the wife to obey her husband, but also not so much that she sins upon herself. So, there must be a reasonable balance as to what she obeys and what she doesn't.

I don't believe that wives have a duty to obey their husbands any more than men have a duty to obey their wives. Men and women are equal. If you want your relationship to work both the man and the woman have to be respectful of the other, and neither should give the other any sort of command, which would suggest that one is inferior to the other.

what???the answer is no. Obedience is for your animal to learn. Following the rules are for your children to learn, and husband and wife should always be equal in a marriage. Do you remember the womens movement? How about civil rights? Ring any bells? If my husband tried to order me around , thinking I should obey him, well let me tell you, there would be serious trouble in paradise. I'd slap the crap out of him.

There are absolutely limits to a wife's required obedience to her husband. The limit starts before it begins. Nothing is required, baby. Just try to dominate me without my express permission and you'll have a little trouble on your hands.

Thats trifling! I'll do what I want when i'm married...and that means working together with me husband not him working for me or making up my mind. Think about what a wife does! Alot! Good sex...cooking..cleaning...CHILDBIRTH....friendship. Men do alot also not to mention but still. How would the husband feel if the wife told him what to always do. When to work..and what not. Work together is the key noone should have to worry about obeying anyways.

Try and put it into a wife's perspective .Would you want to feel like you HAD to OBEY someone for the rest of your life? There are definitely some limits.. some women feel they need to do laundry, cook, clean, and some feel they need to work too. But if she is told she needs to obey her husband well then..that's just too old fashioned for me..that's my opinion..

A wife's duty is the same as a husbands. Respect each other, when a decision which most do affects the other spouse or children it should be discussed and if it means more to one the the other you compromise.
Law of marriage is don't cheat, don't abuse and always support. Work together to always treat each other with love and respect.
If my husband forbid me to do anything it would show a lack of love, trust and faith in me. In turn I would never forbid him anything either. We work together to be happy and safe.

A wife does not have to Obey her husband, and a husband does not have to Obey his wife. marriage is a mutual agreement to be together in love. There are compromises in a marriage on both parts. Marriage is a wonderful thing and a great way to show love, and a lot of people have turned all of it around into some slave "Obey" me thing.

A wife has a duty to obey her husband, and her husband has a duty to obey his wife. But there is also discussion, and of course limits if any legal or moral standards are being breached, in my opinion.
