A 1979 Una Onza Troy de Plata Pura is made of Mexican Fine Silver, with a weight 1 1/8 ounce or 33.625 gram. The silver purity content is 0.925 which makes it have a pure silver content of one Troy ounce.

I found a 1980 version on EBay that has a starting bid 0f $9.99 with a day to go, at http://cgi.ebay.com/1980-CASA-DE-MONEDA-DE-MEXICO-1-TROY-OZ-SILVER-COIN_W0QQitemZ320149356216QQcmdZViewItem . I'd watch what the final bidding goes to for this to get a rough idea of what your 1979 version might be worth.

You actually have what is called a bullion coin struck for people who want to invest in one ounce silver coins or bars. It is not a regular trade coin and is like the American eagle. They are a nice looking coin though. Your 1979 (KM# m49b3 or b4 , there are 2 varieties but they are worth the same) has a mintage of about 4,508,000 which is lower than the 1980 which was 6,104,000. if the bid started off as $9.99 then it is just selling for it's silver value, someone may go higher if they happen to be putting a set of dates together and needs that one. Most coin collectors do not collect such items for they were never really made to be used in everyday commerce. I however like the design and learned along time ago to collect what I like, not what the dealers what me too.

Your best bet would be to take your coins to a local coin dealer. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.

Try posting pictures on this website (there are many coin experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):
