Many were. I would point out that a Marine Division qualifies as an American Infantry Division. In addition many Army Infantry divisions trained for and fought in jungles throughout the PTO. In addition many of those Army divisions conducted amphibious assaults.

There were only two. Both trained in Australia. The most notable was Darby's Rangers. Specially trained to fight in the jungles of Southeast Asia

Yea all the guys on Pelilou, Iiwo Jima. The guys in Europe got caught off guard in the forests, the bocage, etc.
