I chose not to have children, so I had a vasectomy very young. Myself and others that have done the same, are frequently verbally attacked by our Catholic dominated co-workers. Sometimes we are called gay (usually by Hispanic men).

Calling us gay not only attacks those of us whom are “Childfree”, but they have also attacked the gay community. So they are attacking two, unconnected groups. It must be an insult to a gay person to have the term used to describe a straight person in a negative way.

A few gays have chosen to make negative comments to us “Childfree”. They say things, “Well, I can’t have children, would would you straight people give up the biological right?”. It seems that the “Childfree” just can’t win.

The only people that agree with us are those whom regret having kids. They are the ones that will, when not in public, say, “You made the right choice”. The same people will never support us openly in public.

People who attack those who march to a different beat have a couple of possible things going on in my opinion.

One is feelings of guilt and jealousy and searching for how much acceptance might be out there for them should they decide to do the same thing.

Another is acceptance, actually seeking higher levels of acceptance and praise for them being who they think they are, an ego thing, that also as a bonus, gets monetary rewards from opportunities presented to them by the social creed organizations that they belong to (ie Catholic church), from that (social engine) organization either openning up new opportunity from your identified disqualification, leaving an openning for them or somebody like them or from this social creed engine organization's recognition of their identification of you as an "outsider", thereby granting them special privilege or offerring them a position that did not exist to that point in a reward for their demonstrated creed righteous actions.

We forgive them for they really know not what they do by taking the time to be assertive and teach them what we feel like and taking them to court when it is possible to eventually force these creed organizations to abide by US law. It is hurtful, it is borderline at least...a hate crime, this spiritual abuse that you get, but they have not been raised to see that, so they don't feel they are hurting anyone.

Glad you could cope

Healing be unto you and yours

It makes them feel like “real men”. I am black, and I had a vasectomy young. I sometimes wonder if I was the first black man ever to get a vasectomy. A vasectomy is considered very uncool among black men. I got a lot of friction from my family.

Nobody ever called me GAY over it.

I think what you did is much more noble than someone getting an abortion (have you seen what the aborted stuff looks like)

And lastly, I think you live more noble than the priests that sleep with little boys.

F*ck these bitches that are telling u what is right. As long as you are not hurting others you are doing just fine.

Hey, man... you don't want kids... more power to you.

I couldn't imagine being without my kids, but I've always loved kids.

No regrets on this end. But if you don't want kids, then you made the right choice.
I'd sure rather see you not make any kids than make kids and leave them, or abuse them because they're unwanted.

People that are low enough to judge one's choice not to have children sound pretty disturbed to me,i, myself have never heard of that, but it does sound ridiculous.
