The protests are sheilded not only from the media but from the presidents sight.
Whats the point in protest if the one you're protesting will never see it.
The ones that get past security are arrested.
Isn't this a direct violation of our constitutional rights?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Well, thanks for the link. I am not surprised though. The US government has been contemptuous of the population since its inception. Madison speaks in the Federalist Papers (#10) of the threat presented by the majority to the minority of "virtuous" property holders.

I suggest you look into the Alien and Sedition Acts for an early abrogation of the 1st Amendment.

Government's often express allegiance to grand principles to the population without having any intent to loyalty. The nature of governments, particularly a government as powerful as that of the US, is to control and deceive the majority while the propertied minority enjoys privileges that could never be afforded to the population.

One such privilege is the ability to commit crimes with impunity. Not only corporate crimes, which are plenty, but also the crime of war, which benefits the rich disproportionately and hurts the poor disproportionately. The US defends the right of the rich to send the poor to war because they see future profits from war as an interest.

The unruly mob, from the republics first design, is not to be allowed to endanger the minority's right to property. Even if it impugns on the poor's right to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Such is the nature of government.

In my opinion, yes it is against the Constitution. However, politicians in America have been going around, over, under and everywhere else to disprove the Constitution as a functionable document for years. Politicians are elected to serve the people. So why are people still poor and politicians getting rich? And I don't think Prez Bush had anything to do with the document your link shows. Why, because the man is clearly an idiot and has never had an original thought in his life. He is probably the only person I have ever heard of who really does need a guide to find his own a**.

That they would write such a manual seems to me to undermine his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution.

His supporters will say they have a right to protect him from would-be assassins but no other president has needed to be shielded in such a manner. They may also say it's okay to do this for GOP events, but in my mind once elected, he's the President of AMERICA first and a Republican second; which means he should be accessible to all civilians and like it or not, all protest.

President Bush will be fine, he is President, he is not running again, and quite honestly he has handled the unprecedented hatred liberal have lobbed at him quite well. Hillary is a hot head, and will not handle herself nearly as well as Bush has. I think our troops are probably being hurt the worse by anti-war protests, and I am surprised you didn't include them in the choices. Thanks

Protest? What Protest?

But seriously. This in nothing new. Nixon had an "Enemies List". It included Paul Newman and John Lennon.

Makes you wonder what the one created by Clinton said, doesn't it?

Anybody have a copy of that one, so we can compare?

Because there were many instances of protesters being moved out of sight when Clinton was president, too.

Yes, that's one reason that Congress will be doing a lot of investigating after Cheney is out of the White House. It's the Fascists that write these policies, Bush only signs the bottom line.
