I have extremely irregular menstral cycles. I can go 3 months without a period. I once heard that having irregular cycles means you don't produce a lot of estrogen, which may make it harder to conceive. Does anyone know if this actually is true?

1. Do you use fertility awareness? ie: Charting your basal body temp every day? Taking ovulation tests, checking cervical mucus.....It will help you immensely. You can't know when to have intercourse during a 90 day cycle if you don't know when you ovulate.
2. Have you seen your doc? Have they tested you for hypothyroidism or PCOS? Have you had an ultrasound (cysts on ovaries/ cyst in fallopian tube?)
It will take testing to find out. Estrogen problems are just part of a big ball of imbalances with progesterone and androgens that cause problems conceiving.

It is true if you have irreguler period it would be harder for you to conceive, my periods are so irreguler, have been ttc for 4 years now, I am diagnois with PCOS and the dr said that if you have ireguler period it would be hard for you to pinpoint your ovulatin days. Due to irreguler periods you might be ovulating or you might not, but its best to go to your dr and find out whats wrong with you and try and get those cycle back reguler before those hormones get real out of wack

Yes it is true. You may need to go to the doctor and get put on birth control to regulate your periods because chances are that you are not ovulating if your periods are irregular.

It sounds like you are not ovulating correctly. I would talk to your doctor and putting you on a medication to level out your hormones and period. It will help a lot!
