Unfortunately, it seems like when you're really ready to get pregnant, it's not as easy as you thought it would be. It often seems as though every one around you gets pregnant so easily, but it's not the case. Most people (around 85%) get pregnant within a year of having regular unprotected sex. For the other 15%, there is help available and it is indeed very helpful. I would be happy to share my story with you if you like. Email me if you want, ok?

Im on my 14 months ttc with our first child. It is harder than I thought it would be. I had been of birth control 2 years before we ever started trying. We went about 10 months just not stressing or anything but then we both were kind of like when is this going to happen and we started wondering if we could even get pregnant. Then at 10 ttc my doctor recommend I chart my temps and read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." Which is a great book. My husband had a sperm analysis at that point and everything was great. I charted 2 cycles and then saw my doctor and from charting it appeared that I have a short luteal phase (less than 10 days) each cycle. I have regular 28 day cycle sometimes 27 or 29 days and not problems. So I was looking to ovulate between day 12 and 16 but through charting I found out I don't ovulate until around day 18 or 19 which only gives me about 10 days until my period. I had blood tests done to confirm this. I am now taking my second cycle of Clomid to help lengthen my luteal phase. Last month it was around 11 days and that is the longest it has ever been and my cycle was 30 days long. I saw my doctor yesterday and she said that was great and we are hoping this month works. I see her again on Tuesday. Sorry for all the info. My doctor says 1 in 3 couples have some sort of fertility issue that makes it difficult to conceive. Not all need treatment. She said an average healthy couple only have about a 25% chance of conceiving each month. Good luck and keep trying

We have been trying for a year and no luck. I just feel like I will never have a baby. It's really depressing. Today my period is due. No period yet but I feel like I will get it by the end of the day or tomorrow morning as I have my usual cramping. I am healthy. I have a regular cycle. My husband is healthy and has a high sperm count. I am now wondering what to do with my life. I'm a graphic artist but don't feel as though this is my life calling. Now I am thinking of focusing on a completely new career as it seems having a baby is out of the question. Thanks for listening. Feels nice to vent this disappointment I feel. Trying for a baby unsuccessfully is very emotionally draining. It does not help when two of our couple friends are both expecting but I'm completely happy for them too and I also hope you conceive soon. Good luck to you.

It's extremely difficult for some people. I have PCOS and tried for 4-1/2 years to conceive. I was eventually successful with the help of injectables and an IUI. Good luck.

It can be very easy (my first daughter was conceived our first try) or very hard (my second daughter was conceived after 7 months of trying, with the help pf clomid, and this was after a miscarriage). How long have you been trying?

I am older, so I got my OB involved pretty quickly when I wasn't having any luck. I'd say, regardless of age, make an appointment-at least make sure that you are in good health and approach options with him in the event that you don't get pregnant.

in the meantime, eat well, don't drink too much booze or caffeine. Don't smoke. Drink loads of water. Take care of yourself.

Good luck-
DN

Well my first son came as a surprise, but with my second he was completely planned and it took us 7 months to concieve him! It really takes alot of focus on your part. You have to tune into your body and pay alot of attention to cervical mucus change. The internet has a wealth of information! I bought ovulation tests off the website, www.earlypregnancytests.com. Also you have 3 days to concieve and it's best to have sex once in the morning and once at night, elevating your legs after you've done the deed. You've got to keep your man's sperm flowing which is why multiple times a day works best. You'll know when you concieve to bc the sex is different. Almost earth shattering, ha!ha! I wish you the best of luck! It definately takes time!! Try your best to stay patient and relaxed!!!

Very hard for most people. I've been TTC #1 for 10 months and nothing yet but I'm not really worried about it. It takes the average healthy couple up to 1 year to conceive sometimes two years.

I got pregnant at 30 without planning it. It miscarried at 12 weeks.

I got pregnant at 38 after one month of trying after getting off birth control pills.

I got pregnant last month at age 40 after 7 months of trying. I lost 10 pounds, went on clomid, and got my hypothyroidism under control.

Every woman is different. Some can get pregnant the minute they want to while others never do. It is all up to your body and his swimmers. I wish you the best of luck!
