Well, the Republicans seem to think it works that way, i.e., that right wing clapping has some sort of magic. Though I have to wonder about my own grasp on reality. I thought were were expelled from Viet Nam like toxic food from the guts of the poisoned victim. Now, of course, I know better. We decided, of our own free will, to boogie out of town, so I guess it was also our policy to "give" the North Vietnamese the AH-1 Helicopters that were still sitting in packing grease at Tan Son Nhut when we withdrew.
I am SO glad that Das Bushleiter clarified that episode of US history for me. Aren't you, too?

Can you handle the truth?
The liberal view of the war is "How can we use this to embarrass the opposition"
Hence the concerted effort to define it as pointless, declare defeat & defund the troops.
But America's defeat ONLY helps the libs if it happends DURING the Bush Presidency. And there's no longer enough time to make that happen.
And so the clapping must begin. Hiliary will say " Though the war was a terrible blunder, pulling out might be a worse mistake."
Since a defeat during a Democratic Presidency would be bad political mojo, clapping will continue until the next Republican Presidency. Then the war will be stupid again.
Can you handle the truth? Nah, I didn't think so.

You're asking if applause from liberals can change the course of an unsuccessful war? I assume you will think I'm stupid for saying this...but I don't understand your point.
I am clear that it was a mistake that we went to war and that we went to war based on misinformation and hidden agendas. I am clear that this mistake has cost this country huge amounts of money in the mist of crisis after crisis in this country ....Hurricane Katrina and poor Levee Construction, Millions of people without Affordable Housing and Health Care, Bridge Collapse and NYC Explosion pointing to poor infrastructure....not to mention all death, disability, trauma, loss of family for many thousands of Americans and Iraqis.
Can we turn this disaster of a war around? Now that we have done what we have done...should we just pull out? Is it too dangerious to turn away at this point?
I wish I had the answers to these questions. If applauding would fix it...I would spend all my time banging my hands together.

Odd, the libs are now admitting that the surge is working and things are getting better over there.
I have had a chat buddy in Iraq since 2004 and he says things are getting much better. The sunni are now turning agianst Al-Qiada. He just had his first child, finished some engineering courses and has a new job.
History will remember G.W. Bush as a great leader and the Democrats will be remembered as poor pathetic political opportunists.

There needs to be an antagonist. If everybody was in compliance, there would be more of the same. More of the same. We sound repeat this mantra as we sent more money and manpower into Iraq without actually reviewing what is going on there.
The antagonist voice is imperative to forcing the "decision makers" to analyze their strategies.
If all the libs got together and clapped for the war we would be in a perpetual state of "stay the course, more of the same"

Oh absolutely! And if we packed all of our bombs with huggies and kissies EVERYONE would love us and pigs would fly!
Edit:
Smedrik – wow… that’s about all I can say... wow…
I can say this too. So many people think that if we just threw up our hands and gave everyone hugs that the world would smell like roses!! UTOPIA!!
The fact remains that we are humans and as long as that is so there will ALWAYS be someone who wants to harm you and take what you have. From the street level mugger to maniac leaders of other countries who oppress and kill and torture their own FOR LOOSING A SOCCER GAME (remember his sons?) and ultimately destroy our way of life.

Failed war you say? We really haven't failed yet. We'll fail when we give up. We still have a chance to change policies and fix the mistakes.
