I recall as a child travelling through Cincinnati (at least i think it was) and several times when going into Kentucky we went across a bridge, it wasnt the I-75 bridge which we normally crossed.
This bridge was more of a tunnel type and crossed over into Kentucky. It was enclosed above and to the sides just like a tunnel. You could not see out to the sides or above you. But it did not go underwater.
I know i probably am mistaken, and maybe this was in another city. But does anyone familiar with Cincinnati rememeber a bridge like that?
Its possible that maybe this was just a small section of road which led up to the bridge. Childhood memories can somewhat get twisted over the years.
This would have been back in the 1970s, maybe early 1980s.

Michael - are you giving me hints to something?
Was this bridge located near Pete Rose Way by chance?

There is a short tunnel (about 1000 feet long) on I-71 just north of the river, however, it is not a bridge. It is called Lytle Tunnel. It is completely enclosed on the sides and on the top. I am guessing that must be what you are thinking of. I have lived here all my life (45 years) and there has never been a tunnel that goes over the river. Hope that helps!

You came down Old I-71- thru Lyttle tunnel and crosed over at what was the Covington exit and took the Roebling Bridge across to Covington. It was built in 1867. Up untill the last "remake" of downtown Cinci , this is how ya travelled

Yeah, the tunnel is still there on I71, but it doesnt go under the river, its shortly before it as you head south. So- you werent crazy, just a bit off on the under the river part of it. Only bridges go across the Ohio from Cincy to NKY.

You are def thinking about Lytle Tunnel. It is very close to the river, however I guess it could be another city. Have you ever been to Detroit? I was thinking maybe you confused it with the Windsor Tunnel?

You are probably thinking of Lytle tunnel...
It is just before you cross the bridge into KY on I-71.

Definitely the Lytle Tunnel. It's a fun tunnel to drive through and it is still here today.

There is a tunnel just before the I-75 bridge in downtown Cincinnati. It goes around a big curve.
