I'm not sure I understand your question.

1. If you have "shared video RAM", that is, your video card shares RAM with the motherboard, then your "installed RAM" will always be higher than that which is displayed in your operating system.

2. If you mean a certain program is using up a large amount of RAM, then the total free memory will increase when that program is closed, done performing its operations, or even minimized.

3. The price of old RAM is not going to go up. If you are trying to sell older RAM, you will never get as much as you paid for it.

Very Simple. If you run many programs simutaneously the free space RAM will decrease and If you quite the running programs the free space will be increase. To get the maximum free space of RAM, pls turn off ur computer as even Operationg System itself take some portion of memory.
