I rent a room in an apartment from the owner and the owner's brother rents the other room. There was a burglary and mostly my stuff was stolen. The owner made a claim on the home and contents insurance but they don't want to pay for my things stolen from the rented room.

Does home and contents insurance cover items in a rented room?

Nope! When you rent a room or rent an apartment you have to get renters insurance on your own. Hate to say it but you have to take the loss.

No - the owner's insurance policy normally covers only their own posessions - the policy may extend to cover contents of guests - but this generally means friends/ relatives, not paying guests.

No, the insurance only covers the property owned by the insured. If you don't have a policy of your own, you don't have coverage.

No, unless you had property insurance in which case you could receive money for it.
