Hi, im already 18 years old and i haven't had my period since birth! Is there something wrong with me? I already went to the OB gyne and they took tests on me including the ultra sound, but they said that i had imbalanced hormones. My mom wants me to go to the OB again because she's getting worried about me, But i don't want to go back because i'm afraid. Isn't there any other way to check this? And i heard rumors that if you don't get your period until you're 20 years old you'll probably die. Is that true? HELP ME PLEASE =(

Yoy are going to live upto 100!

that apart the reasons for getting late periods....
have you got hair in axilla and down there?is ur breast development ok?
these are secondary sexual characters....

there are 2 types of delayed puberty....one runs in family and 2nd is without a cause...

in 1st ur mother /sister may have had delayed puberty..
1st they take xrays ..if bone maturation is not upto ur age mark,u can wait and watch...U have more years to get periods....

this type of delayed puberty has no relation on future child bearing..

other causes....
imbalanced hormones
# stress
# significant weight loss or gain
# anorexia loss of appetite
# thyroid conditions
# ovarian cysts
# other conditions that can affect hormone levels

u may have to check hormone levels.....fsh oestrogen prolactin
skull xray...thyroid function testsandrogen male hormones etc...after these or fewer investigations they know ur exact condition

and treatment varies.........

so u must go to the doc and do further tests.......

and lastly u dont die of delayed onset of periods.....again ur fear is very childish there are girls who didnt have it till 20s ...i know personally...an d had normal lives ok///

Ok - you will not die.
Well, not because of not having your period. You will die someday, I suppose.

One factor is if you are just a late bloomer. Did your mom get her period late? Also - if you are working out like crazy, your body won't have enough fat to start having a period. Are you training to be an Olympic gymnast or anything? Are you anorexic?

I mean, in the end, the worst thing that may happen is that you aren't going to be able to have kids. Not that you'll die.

Sounds like you're in song together with your frame. Get a blood stress computing device and hold monitor of your blood stress on a every day groundwork. Could be blood stress similar. Present the findings in your healthcare professional and notice what he says. Another factor it would be is ... good ... my healthcare professional referred to as it a crystal within the fluid of the internal ear. I do not realize it's technical identify. It will make you dizzy whilst you transfer your head in distinct positions, like whilst you lay down or seem up. It will depart after awhile. No meds for it that I recognize of. Another factor so one can make you dizzy is getting up too rapid from laying down or sitting. If you're involved or scared, it would make your blood stress move up. None of those are critical, although, besides the blood stress.

your not going to die. go to the doctors again because they will be ready to perform more test that will determine why you hormones are imbalanced. if they cannot determine whats going on they will give you medicine to balance them out so you can be normal. some therapies include birth control for 6 months to a year. everything will be ok.

First, if you admit needing advice from a doctor, don't hesitate to go to one. They're the only ones that can really help you out. You probably need to have several tests done,

And no, you won't die. The worst that may happen is that you won't be able to have any children (biologically speaking).

Go to your doctor and try to figure things out. Good luck, and don't be too scared.

just go back to the place and find out how to fix it , it is always better to get something figured about early then later so you have to drop the nervousness and just do it you are 18 you need to take your health into your own hands that's why doctors are there to help people with questions and problems just schedule an appt. probably asap so you stop worrying about it and then just do it and that's that and when it is all done you will feel much better

You should never listen to rumors, they get you all upset over nothing.
A smart doctor would put you on a birth control pill, that will start your periods and make them regular. You should take this very seriously though, not making sure you have regular periods can cause you to be unable to have children - it definitely won't kill you though.
