Literati (in Yahoo Games) is very good. It is like Scrabble, in that you build words from the letters you have. It is fun, challenging, almost anyone of whatever level can play it, it improves your knowledge of English and you can also chat while you play. You meet a variety of people there but I have found that the people who play it are a very nice bunch and have a much better class of chat!

Try IMVU.com. It's a 3-d Avatar chat program. BUT unlike most of the things above, it DOES require a download. 3-D avatars are too much for simple browser to handle. It won't download a virus or spyware to your computer, and is a small program. It is a bit of a memeory hog when it is running though, a good computer can run it with no problems.
